In which cases gingival surgery is applied ?

Gingival surgery is performed in cases where the gum disease progresses and the posterior teeth will not be sufficient, especially in the cases that occur in the anterior areas of our patients.

How is gum surgery performed?

Gum surgery is applied in two ways. The first method, called grafting, is applied to the area taken from the palate of our patient and called graft. In the second method called shift, if there is a solid tissue next to the retraction area, the tissue is shifted over the withdrawal.

Will I suffer ?

Gum surgery is performed under local anesthesia and there is no difference between the other prosthetic procedures and surgical procedures performed in the mouth. No pain occurs during the operation and then a painkiller is sufficient. Patients who have a grafting method sometimes have open wounds in the palate. This may cause discomfort when it touches anything in the region for 3-4 days. This confusion completely passes within 1 week and the wound area heals without leaving any traces.

What should I pay attention to after the operation?

The most important issue after the operation is to keep the region away from mechanical trauma. You should pay attention to what you eat and stay away from hard foods. Keeping the operation area clean is one of the most important factors affecting the outcome of the treatment.

Can I smoke during the treatment?

They should stay away from the cigarette as much as possible during the one-week recovery period before and after the surgery. Gum treatment is not suitable for patients who smoke too heavily.
